A woman was amused by an interaction she had with her grandma as she gave her a lift in her car. The older woman guessed how much it had cost her to fill up her tank, and she couldn't believe the actual figure when her granddaughter told her what it was.
Although Grandma seemed to feel for her younger relative in this situation, those who watched the interaction on TikTok felt like it was a perfect example of how the generational divide was messing up the chances for young people to succeed. There is no denying that for most of us, it's tough out there.
It isn't a good sign to be this out of touch.
Ultimately, this is the kind of thing that millennials and Gen Z like to joke about because it sometimes feels like it is a situation where it is impossible to enact some positive change. Even if there were more awareness of how expensive life can be now for the young, it doesn't necessarily mean that older people will take pity on them. Still, most of us hope that even if elderly voters in general are not willing to see a young person's point of view, at least our family can try to be on that level. Many aren't so lucky, though.
It seems like the different generations live in different worlds.
